Sip On To
We loved the Watermelon Red Wine and Cherry White Wine Sangria. For the cocktail, Evelyn was our favourite. A frozen margarita with kala khatta pomegranate taste and all glammed with most-liked candy floss.
Armenian Mezze Platter, a not to be missed dish.Lavash is basically an Armenian flatbread, that is thin and can be soft or crisp. The traditional Mezze Platter was served with 4 traditional dips and crisp lavash .A special mention for the chilli dip and hummus.
Jurassic Cheese Lavash Pizza, a thin as a paper base pizza with salted bandel and smoked bandel, Kalimpong cheese (local cheese from the west Bengal) with mesclun greens . This pizza just won us over with its simplicity.
Eggplant Tolmav, even if you are not an Eggplant lover , we will still recommend. The dish is done with such a finesse that you can hardly taste that pungent eggplant smell. Braised eggplant stuffed with beetroot, carrots baked with Kalimpong cheese and amaranth pops. If the chef makes you fall in love with a dish you never liked, it speaks a lot about the chef proficiency.
Spinach and Pumpkin Manti was the first option on the menu in the traditional Armenian Mains section and we couldn’t help ordering one . Armenian ravioli stuffed with roast pumpkins & walnuts, swimming in yoghurt sauce and Kalimpong cheese; each bite just felt better than the last!
If the weather is good, then its day for Khorovatz . Khorovatz is an Armenian word for BBQ. Without a second thought, we went for Roasted Cauliflower and Pumpkin kebab.Sizable pieces of Cauliflower and pumpkin marinated in chilli yoghurt and open grilled to serve with soft lavash bread and coriander chutney .The cauliflower was crisp and went well with pumpkin which was soft from inside and had a thin crisp layer outside.
Armenian are suppose to be one of the best bakers in the world and Armenian cafes started baking even before Cafes in Paris. I insist you order the upside-down Orange Pound Cake, the cake was well balanced in sweetness, moist and dense with tart caramelised orange slices cutting through the rich and exceptional Nolen Gur Ice Cream. The perfect end to a delicious meal.
Anyone who relish Cinnamon taste, try Chefs Gata.Traditional baked Armenian puff pastry filled with homemade cheese. Served with berry ice cream and Cinnamon Syrup.
Chocolate Cheesecake, not to be missed. A wholesome milk chocolate smooth cheesecake with cookie crumble and cherry glaze. Eggless one.
